Hi everyone, I have been following the yahoo forum conversation about some spray guards that an owner in the USA has developed. He is putting together a list of names of people and trying to arrange a group order via a sailmaker or someone else

What do us Aussie’s think of it? I like the idea – I mostly sail with my little kids and sometimes they comment that they don’t like the spray (even though I have kitted them up with wet weather gear etc, sometimes they bring their swimming goggles!). Once they get wet they can get cold. If they get cold they generally don’t enjoy it as much.

I wonder if there is any interest in putting in an order for some boats down under, or alternatively seeing if we can get the pattern/plan which we could take to a sailmaker here?

      Just a thought

Hi Pete, looking forward to seeing your spray shields! I am hoping to make the marathon, looks like awesome conditions forecast- moderate westerly = reach up and reach back but I am struggling with babysitting problems at the moment!

Hi guys, I am getting some spray guards made up by a local marine trimmer. I am hoping to have them on my boat this Sunday in time for the BYRA marathon. It is easier to wait and see the finished product than try and describe it’s designer feature’s. But it’s not a floppy skirt and it allows for a capsize recovery from standing on the centre board then climbing onto the deck as the boat rights itself, as per Miranda’s You tube video with minimal effort. Stay tuned as photo’s will be available soon. Cheers Pete
