Canberra Yacht Club 2016/17 Season

The CYC 2016/17 season commences on Sunday 11 September with Point Score 1.  The mid-week series launches on Wednesday 19 October. The 2016/17 program is available from the CYC website.   Visitors always welcome.

The YMCA ACT Multi-hull Championships are to be conducted on the weekend of 22-23 October.  The ACT Weta Championship is conducted in conjunction with this event.

Rd3 25/9/16 – Parliament House in the background.  Gusty, variable conditions were the order of the day – ie typical lake sailing!
Fun day on the water with some good rides to be had.

The weather was kind to the Canberra fleet for Round One of the Canberra Yacht Club 2016/17 sailing season.   Although only 17C with scattered clouds the breeze was a pleasant, if gusty, 10-12 kts.   The sailing muscles that had been resting over winter were rudely awakened as the gusts came down the course.   A fun day to start the season.

The Weta fleet, as per usual, were in close contact for most of the day and featured some exciting crosses during the afternoon.  Eventually 860 – Andy Weiss broke from the field and scored the first win of the season.

If you are interested in joining the local fleet there are two relatively cheap boats on the market.  One local and one in Sydney ($9000).
