Rudder Stock Failure

Is this a common failure?  It is on both sides.

Any idea on the cause?

I’ve heard of it before. Mine also has some damage in that area which I have on my to-do list. In my case its the board, when up, that creates a lot of drag on the helm, which results in that, paired with the GRP rod gooseneck that hits the CF when the board is up. I switched to the Aussie Bungee system, which works better in the shallows where I launch, but that little stainless monkey d1ck still gets in the way sometimes…
