Looking to test my splicing skills and make some tapered gennaker sheets.  Obviously the overall length is the same but interested in where others have put the splices (i.e. measurements).  Also what dimensions of rope/type of rope have people used.  Thank you in advance for any guidance.

Here’s what I did.  Reduced size of rope so I can fit splice through pulleys and is lighter.  Using soft shackle to connect to gennaker.  Idea is that it doesn’t get caught on the forestay which annoys me.  Also lighter so better in light winds.

I’ve also used spectra which doesn’t absorb water so should stay light.

Given it’s winter here waiting for milder temperatures to give it a try out but looks nice and tidy.  Splicing for spectra is different than for polyester ropes but plenty of articles on the web.  Made the soft shackle see some instructions Paul White has in one of his posts.

      Happy sailing
