::Hmm, Wetaz can not only can point higher but also navigate thru forum mysteries with pizazz – thank you for adding to my technical data bank.
The second image of the yellow transom should have a title and comment with words to the effect of Grip ties around pipe and transom have been removed. I also use a shock cord attached to the aft anchor point and around the base of the pipe to make the Go Pro mount very stable.
The first photo should be clear and shows the flattened pipe which corresponds to the transom dims. I used a butane flame to soften. The softening needs a little patience and a good eye to make sure both flats are parallel.- This reply was modified 10 years, 6 months ago by Wetanuff 863.
::Came across this very cheap (home built) speed display:

Anyone up for building a couple….? I would have liked a Speedpuck but too expensive!!! This seems just right and useful to see highest VMG by an Oz Weta!
I could do the breadboarding / build but am more than phased by the software.

Wetanuff #863::Hi Guys
Have promised to take a couple out on Pittwater on the Sunday. He’s a keen sailor – who knows the seed may blossom into a purchase? So can’t make Canberra.Geoff W – was thinking of the Pittwater (Bayview ramp) tomorrow – Sun 13th for an am sail? This too local for you?
Leigh thanks for your posts; I am hoping to get the pics of that demountable Go-Pro plastic mount (< $10) up on the forum soon.
Oh, and the drinks / nibble evening – dare I say debrief – was great. Thank Jenny from us all. Somehow the guys survived with only breakfast and your nibbles / nuts! No mean feat.

::Hi Leigh & JB Weta-istas….
I should be there by 5 – if not before. I would very much look forward to a pre-regatta dinner.
Had the following feedback from Julie (Myola Caravan Park) for suitable eatery:
The Park has a Pitza type restaurant,
Bowling Club at Greenwall point for Chinese meals + bistro is reasonable.
(Callala Beach club not the best.)
Takeaway fish shop by river / overlooking bay highly recommended for take away fish & chips (- not the cafe, also in vicinity).
Butter factory at Pyree, highly recommended for a group. see http://www.butterfactory.com.au
Looks like we would need to take suits for this…..Julie thinks the Butter Factory would be best. She is emailing more info so treat above as preliminary.
Hope this helps.

::Hi Leigh
Weta-ers…sounds questionable? What about Weta-ings or Weta- eaux (if you like the French connection with water.)Looking forward to meeting up. Have already asked Steven (Sailing Club organiser) where to eat, but so far no reply. Also asked how many Wetas have registered and would we get our own start. Clearly question overload.
Not sure when I will be arriving yet, but will be there on the 4th – 6th. Have to co-ordinate with son as to eta. Have we a convoy?
Had a first outing yesterday. I clearly need to practice my down wind beach landings…..These boats are real thoroughbreds – they tack on a dime and are so light on helm. They are deceptively fast after my last keel dragger.
Had a helluva job de-mounting the mast after the sail. Will be watching intently how the others do it at JB. I had to ask a guy’s help – he shook the whole boat before the mast lifted out. Maybe I have to lubricate the bottom slot?

::You can add another boat to the JB regatta.Sail # 863 – yellow boat with yellow genny. Will be staying at Myola Caravan park on the Bay from 4th. SHould have the road trailer finally finished by then and have a name for the boat. Thought I would try it on the Pittwater before the christening. Betting my novice crew will come up with some weird profanity.
Should I bring the wooden spoon?
